The solution for the spring perch issue as all of you probably know is to weld on new oversized spring perches in the proper position to eliminate the shim and gap .This will let the u-bolts do there job which ever direction you choose to install them.Stock or small lifts don't usually need anything that drastic but custom suspension may require it.That would be SOP on SOA application.I think also that everyone knows you can't put a square peg in a round hole.lol mike s.

I agree, if you have your AMC20 out of the jeep new spring perches should be put on to replace the weak factory ones.
You do NOT want them looking (bent) like the one in the pic. I posted.

Thank you Caveman. What is a spring eye bushing?

Thank you Mylittle. If this is the issue do you have any idea what I can do to decrease the effect? Thx DAB

stiffer shocks and a lighter foot on the go pedal.

Do yourself a favor and subscribe to a few 4 wheel drive/Jeep magazines and pick up a catalog from Quadratec or 4 Wheel Drive Hardware. Set them next to the john and do some quality reading while you're in there. Look at the parts, the exploded views, and the part names then go look under your Jeep to become more familar with it. :)

The spring eye bushing is the rubber (OEM) or polyurethane (aftermarket) bushing the the front of the rear leaf spring. If this is bad or flexes too much it can cause the rear axle to angle slightly as you accelerate.

^^^ This. There on each end of your main spring leaf. With as much power that you have and a short wheel base rig, Just a little flex will feel like a lot. It may not be your problem, but i would replace them with polyurathane bushings to stiffen it up.

Hello Sasquach. It has a 4 Barrel.

Hello Busa. Thank you. My back leaf spring mount is worn down. I will see if new busing help.

Hello Busa

How do I determine size of the bushing I should order?

Thank you for all the help

I don't believe that bushings actually come in different sizes. When they wear it he ith rubber that takes the punishment not the steel around it.

Just order for the year Jeep you have. Unless it has Wrangler springs you will be fine.
