Hey everyone, I was looking at all of my options for a jerry can mount for my '79 CJ5 somewhere on the back by my spare tire and came up with this Intelligent Rack Mounting System (I Rack) SB-2740 . Cost effective and since it's my daily driver, I can take it off when I'm not wheelin'.

Just wanted to see if anyone had any experience with this system or any other suggestions. Thanks in advance!

I would want the weight as close to the tailgate as I could get it. the tire is heavy enough but 35 or 40 pounds of fuel could be better carried on the sides of the tire or maybe even in front of it.

I agree with IOPort51 on that. I have an old Kayline rack on my CJ that carrys a 35" tire plus 2 gas cans, so other options are out there. Keep looking

:)I'm with IO ................like to keep the weight forward.......also big tires and the way that jack mounts will hang down to low and kill your approach angle when you start going up a steep hill............A lot of the carriers made today mount the tire much higher and have two cans mounted one on each side but long ways...........the jack will normally go behind the tires & cans laying flat.........
