I found a hard top for a 1978 CJ7 will it fit my 1978 CJ5 ???

They are totally different and will not work.

The CJ5 is shorter than the Cj -7. They also have completely different door openings. As far as any type of top goes, they aren't interchangeable between a CJ7 and a CJ5 .

As the others have stated it will not work. These people do make one that is rather inexpensive IMO. The other thing you could do is a Craigslist search.
