Thanks for having me. Admin suggested I introduce myself.
Always loved Jeeps. Grew up with and learned to drive stick in my family's M38 until my father traded it for a CJ7 Golden Eagle .
I currently on a 1966 CJ5 V6 and a 1983 CJ7
I've had the CJ5 for about a year. It came to me with a worn out 231 Evenfire V6 (from a 1980 Buick car) rather than the 225 Dauntless Buick 225 V6 it left Toledo with. The body is a bit rough; rotted out rear floor and a bit of rust through on footwells, lower cowl, floor braces, windshield frame, etc...all the usual spots. So far I've rebuilt the Transmission , overhauled the Transfer Case (bearings, seals, linkage) and currently rebuilding the V6. I'm converting the brakes to dual circuit, Delco alternator, HEI distributor but otherwise keeping it "stock". Hopefully I can get the bodywork all done this winter. All body repairs with new steel panels (from Classic Enterprises) welded in so I'm excited to get started.
I bought the CJ7 just last week lol....just a fluke early-in-the-day find at an estate sale...I didn't hesitate and there was a lineup of folks behind me with money too.
I've always wanted a CJ7 but they're getting hard to find in any kind of restorable condition for any kind of reasonable price up here in Rustbucket Land.
The CJ7 has been previously "repaired" (poorly), has a bit of frame rot but otherwise pretty restorable. I'll likely keep it stock.
I'm not sure which one I'll keep. Maybe both?
