You guys are scaring me :( I just bought / spent a nice chuck on something made for a YJ but found that no one that I found, makes for a CJ. Not chinee either, comes from the land down under

Re: Winning pics

Almost anything can fit a CJ. Hell AMC used everyone else's parts from the factory. Ford starters gm motors later gm distributor and AMC motor the list goes on and on and on

Ok. Since I decided to go EFI for my new engine, a good friend of mine who has had many jeeps said I should go with cold air intake for it. Stated doing a lot of reading and it sounded like a good idea. Sucking in all that hot dirty air from the engine compartment is not a good thing. There are a lot of systems out there on the market, but most still bring it in from under the hood, which is still hot air. Seems like only 2 or 3 ways to bring it in, from the outside without coming through the engine compartment. Some type of scoop which I talked to 007 on this forum which he did and got some good information from him. He has a larger engine and larger scoops. I could never find something for my smaller Sniper system. After a lot of thought and searching on the internet I decided to go with a snorkel system. Not something I really wanted to do but it looks like it will work well. I have no plans for any high water crossings. :( Looks like it will line up close enough on the fender and windshield. It is for a YJ. Luckily the bodies and windshields are pretty close to a CJ.

Went stalking today, didn't take long to find a Mall Crawler lol.

Thanks ! I've had this for 35 years now and only did a few mods over all those years, some actual good improvements, but now it's time to do some power upgrades and some other things to make it a pretty good trail rig for future 4 wheeling and camping in the high mountain deserts and mountains. No hard core stuff, just plain fun stuff. Retirement is in the future, and I want to be ready for it.

I have the stock ducting on mine with the stock air cleaner on a new weber carb. It's ducted from the grill next to the radiator. I've been thinking of doing some louvers on the hood over the carb and building a box with foam on the edges so it seals to the hood when it's closed and running the square weber air filter inside the box.

Another way to get it would be to take a stock air cleaner and turn it around so the snorkle points to the firewall and duct it to the middle where the vent on in front of the windshield is. It's possible that doing this on a Jeep might take too much air away from the inside vents but that's how we used to do it on the old Camaros and Chevelles.

At the grocery store today there was no one to park next to but when I came out there was a very new and slightly modded black 4-door model. It looked like he didn't want to park next to me because he knew that he'd been beat ;-)

Have you seen the short snorkels that come up out of the cowl and look like a thick spaceship right on top of the cowl?

Yea that was the third option I was looking at. Saw 1 I really liked but with a lot of hardware that was probably not going to be used in my application I think was close to $600 if I remember correctly. It's one thing to cut some holes in a fender, but the cowl was going a little farther than I wanted to go. Probably could have done the hood, but I like the fender better. All these items are made for the newer jeeps, but can probably be modified
