Wouldn't be hard. Hey, I've even got a metal lathe and a stick of cored bronze. Oilite, in fact. Think there's a market?

Don't know, you would need a ball mill to make the hole, it would not "snap lock" like the plastic. It would warrant some investigation, I would say.

Got the ball mills - I just used one yesterday as a form tool to make an outer bearing race for a bottom bracket bearing race for a one-piece-crank bicycle... that race is unavailable anywhere in the world, so it fell to me to make one.

The bushing could be split just like the plastic one - I've got slitting saws for the milling machines, too, down to about 1/64" kerf.

Now ya got ME thinkin'. :) :) :)

A ball turner or CNC to do the ID. Put the effort into going Hydraulic. End of replacing them and having to kill the motor to shift into reverse to get your clutch back.

Got the ball turner in the makin' stage right now, too... :) :) :)

To get it to go on the ball end you could split it in two halves and hold it together with a snap ring or even an O ring. I think Hydraulics would be a very cool project but major PITA for what it would accomplish. I am upgrading the mechanical linkage with heim bearings at all the pivots, I did it to the truck years ago and have had no problems with it so far. That was one of the things in the JP article of “top ten things wrong with a CJ” that I agree with the mechanical clutch linkage is an embarrassment.:o

Here's an easy one:
