Diff Rear differential problem. Drive shaft spins but the axle won't

Has anyone had this problem? My knowledge of differential is about zero. Anyone have any advice? Thank you in advance

Your 82 CJ has an AMC20 (Cooperate) rear axle (Link)-> Differentials -<
It is common for the hub to spin on the axle and then you end up going no where. If you mark the axle to hub (the right hub is the common drive hub) with a line it will show if it is spinning.
I'm betting it is...
To repair the problem, the most common fix is to purchase a 'One Piece Axle Kit'
You can purchase a replacement axle and hub, but it is not as strong.

79 CJ7 304, th400 auto borgwarner 1389?? qudratrac stock rest unknown.
89 YJ 4.2L 258, AX-15 5spd, NP231, dana 30 front, dana 35 rear with posi, gears unknown
92 YJ 4.0, AX-15 5spd, np231, dana 30 front, dana 35 rear.
I run the old AMC20 with one piece shafts and wheel quite well with it. If built right they are actually stronger than a Ford 9" due to the 11" ring gear. However they get a bad reputation due to the two piece axle shafts and thinner wall tubing.
Do what was mentioned above. However if that checks out pull the rear diff cover and look for broken of missing teeth.

Thanks for the advise y'all! I ve been wanting to do 1 piece axles anyway. How do i get the cap off to get to the castle nut? Is it pressed in?
