I have been battling an extremely stiff rear suspension since I bought the jeep several years ago, but I finally got it right after tearing down the spring packs 3 times. It has an unidentified 2.5 lift, who knows if the rear springs were even made for a cj, and has always sat higher in the rear.
This last time I removed 2 leafs from each spring pack, and made/modified some spring clamps that allow them to slide freely on each other and “droop” lower when flexed. I also removed the poly spring eye bushings I previously installed and pressed in some stock bushings. Still have poly bushings in the shackle ends. I also made sure to not overtighten the u-bolts.
It rides WAY better on and off-road, and even leans going around corners now lol. Before it cornered as flat as my Z28 does.
