Registering in Ohio

Anyone have experience registering their cj in Ohio? I have a CJ5 , the emergency break doesn't work, it has a single rear view mirror, lap belts, no doors at the moment, no horn. All of which from what I can tell will bounce it from inspection for registration.

Do I register it as historical to get around this??

Just fix it. All the problems you mentioned are quite simple to repair. Inexpensive as well. Besides that... with the exception of doors, you really need those things.

What year CJ5 ? The lap belts and no doors were likely standard factory stuff, so that shouldn't be an issue.

The other stuff shouldn't be too hard to repair for inspection.

It's a 1977. I talked to a buddy here who has some experience with this kind of thing, I'm not doing historical plates because there are limitations in Ohio on how often and where you drive one of those.

I'm going to follow the advice and just fix the other issues, but the doors/lap belts won't be a problem.
