My new radiator purchase inspired this thread. The Laredo had the original radiator that had seen its share of fan hits and crumbled fins. I decided to buy a new one. After shelling out $180 Vicki picked up my new radiator today. I was happy it was here and she pointed to the trunk once she came back. There in the trunk was a large cardboard box. When I lifted it out of the trunk I was suprised how light it was. Once I opened the box I found out why. Plastic tanks sandwiched around tubes and fins which resemble tin foil. :(

Heres your new place to rant that starts out with Remeber when...

You went to a actual radiator shop and they re cored your original? :chug:

Remember when....

You could go to the parts house and talk to a knowledgeable person rather than some snot nosed kid with a $100 haircut that looked like a barber school dropout had done, about 15 piercings in their face, and a pair of pants so baggy you could fit a cooler in the leg, that can only barely utter the words "what year, make, and model dude? Uuhhhhh... Dunno, bruh. Can't help you."

So true. You really have to search around these days for a quality parts place. Im lucky enough to have a local NAPA which is a franchise run by some old school people. :chug:

This doesnt have to be Jeep related by the way. Thats why I posted it here. :D

Remember when:

Music was on reel to reel?

i must be lucky i have both a excellent local parts store and a radiator shop that will fix or re core a radiator as necessary. although i dont like the california part to many people

Remember when you didn't spend all day trying to find a part that wasn't made in China.
Remember when you could buy a part and it would fit and last more then a few months.

Haha! I didn't have reel to reel, but I DID have a stack of vinyl 44 and 33 1/3s…. and an 8 track player!

Remember when you had to pay $300+ for a CD player that was as big (or bigger) than your VCR?

was there even time before the invention of the microwave oven?

I remember my Mom buying a bag of Jolly Time popcorn kernels and making them in a frying pan. :D no microwave required

Remember when bullets were .10 or less apiece....

Remember when you pulled up to a gas pump and someone would come up and ask how much you wanted and washed your windshield and checked your oil as they put the gas in for you.

Remember when music was music with no screaming and the words were understandable?

Lol, I remember my parents complaining that KISS and Black Sabbath weren't real music. Not like Elvis and Buddy Holley :)

Now I have to listen to the oldies radio station to hear my music and the ancient radio station to listen to my parents music.

Yes. But I was the one pumping gas and checking oil down at the old 66
and on weekends I swear we washed every Cadillac and Lincoln in town!

Remember when children sat quietly besides their parents and only spoke when spoken to?

They set quietly now, too busy texting or surfing on the I Phone to talk.:D

I remember when I discovered an 8 track could be saved by resticking the ends of the tape together ....

When a Chevy 283 was a good sized engine and the 350 was huge.....

I remember when we lost .... John Kennedy, Martin Luther King, Bobby Kennedy, then there was the manson family, Tet, staying up late to see the first man on the moon, Star Trec, the day Elvis died, Coco Gigio, the muppets before they were the muppets, Woodstock (Wasn't there, but I remember the pre woodstock hype), blue Sunoco Gasoline ......

Remember when Solid Gold was the hit show of the day or when the final Mash episode was on and everyone had viewing parties.

Remember when you would throw a case of 3.2 beer and a couple of your buddys in the trunk of your car and go to the drive-in on a saturday night
