So I got a new to me tub for my 77 CJ5 . The new tub is a 79 or 80 with the heater blower that goes outside.

My question is do they make replacement heater boxes or do I need to look for a used one from another CJ or will one from an older Yj work or will my current heater box from a 77 tub work on the new tub?

I'm still in the process of prepping the new tub for install so I'm just trying to get everything in line for when the time comes. I've tried searching for the answer with no results so any help would be greatly appreciated

I've never seen replacement boxes.

My guess is go used.

Are you talking about the plastic box under the dash that holds the heater core and blower? If so, grab one from a YJ. The only work that I can think of is the defroster needs some effort

If you were a little closer, I think I have one that you could have

Yea the heater box that contains the heater core and blower motor.
is a yj strait swap as far as bolting it to the tub? I'm pretty good at fabricating but I don't have a garage and its freaking cold out so the less I have to do the better..lol

If the guy I have on line doesn't buy mine, I'll have a complete heater system out of an '83 CJ7 for sale. Should know in a few days.

I've googled replacements myself and only come up with yj replacement from omix. Mine is in need of replacement also, cracked and nasty, already got the blazer motor in but still haven't got it going yet. I'll be watching this thread to see if you find a place for replacement.

how bad is it cracked? epoxy, and a sanding disc works wonders with plastic. i mean its not structural so even if its broke in half you should be able to repair it, maybe with some thin sheet metal and screws. if you take your time you can make it look good as well as function right.

Its got a v shaped crack in it from something smacking it hard, maybe got kicked or something. The cracks are about 3-4 inches long and the spot where the cable pivot on the passenger side is is broke off. As in the metal rod that the flap pivots on, i think thats the fresh air vent, Another reason i'm looking for replacement. I thought about taking some of my carbon fiber epoxy from work and skim coating the crack but can't figure out how to replace that damn metal rod.

So would the heater box with the fan inside bolt up in the same location as one That has the fan outside? Are the bolt holes the same? My heater box off my old tub is good it just has the fan inside and I don't have mad cash to through around but I don't wanna go drilling all kinds of extra holes to use what I have.

you got your factory box right? if not a CJ7 box will bolt right in, and possibly a yj box, if you put a blazer blower motor all you have to do is take your fan cage and put it on the the new motor, then you have to enlarge the hole in the firewall where the blower motor goes, bolt it back up and your done.

That would work if my factory box from my old tub didn't have the motor inside
