Ok so a little info on my build plans to help you understand why I'm doin this and what my issues are. Ok I have a 79 CJ7 , I am going to do rear 4link and move the axle back to where the rear of the frame will be the retainers for the rear springs. I will be running a d60 rear with a lot of travel. I will need to move my factory fuel tank. I want to eliminate any risk of it getting whacked so I want to move it to the back, behind the rear seat. Issues I have are that I need to keep the rear seat for the kids, I can't have any fuel vapors or smell coming out of it since I plan to keep a hard top on it in winter. I also need as much fuel capacity as possible since I live 45 minutes from the nearest gas station.

My thoughts were to try and move the rear seat forward about 3", I have to replace the floors in the jeep so while I do that figure out the maximum upward travel of the diff and drop the rear deck down from stock height but leave the rear seat at stock (how far that is I don't know), from there fabricate a new back deck, include a drain plug or two so it doesn't become a sump. Then is it possible to order a fuel cell I can drop in the bottom and build a rack or shelf on top of for additional storage. Still keep the rear tail gate but retain the exterior fill point but move it to above the tail light so the full tube is protected then as well. Any ideas or similar builds?

All of the fuel cells I have seen are rather small, race car stuff. I have not heard of anyone building custom fuel cells. I would guess the volume of the bladder would be the deciding factor. Have you looked at boat tanks? Not really a fuel cell but maybe the right size tank.:D

There is not a hole lot of room behind the rear seat so I think you may need to find someone to build you a custom fuel cell with the way you want the fill and every thing else.
