I was thinking of getting revolver shackles for my rear. So then I started to check out what people on the internet were saying. A lot of people have broken their leaf springs after getting revolver shackles. They allow the shackles to flex like crazy but the other end of the spring still has a big poly bushing on a solid mount on the frame. That's why they break.
To get a lot of flex you could try Orbit Eye Bushings from Alcam Springs. They allow both ends of the spring to flex. The problem with them is you need new springs and mounts. Orbit-Eye Springs and Bushings
I got a set for the rear of my Scrambler that someone gave me. I plan on trying them out. I heard the front ones are a bad idea because when you climb a hill they unload the front end too much and increase the chance of flipping back. I heard about the leaf spring issue as well but I will most likely run a rubber bushing on the rear spring.

I've known a couple that tryed them, they all took them off after a couple trail rides. They take all the pressure off the tire when they open up so you lose any traction you have.
They are great for ramp work but not off road.

I have run them in the rear of my CJ off-road for many years. The main issue that I had with them was that I NEEDED to run a traction bar with them. I had the "5th link" set-up from sky-jacker. As far as off road goes they always worked fine for me.
When you attempt to accelerate (with a healthy v-8 and 38" tires and without the proper traction bar) the shackles would open up and bind the driveshaft, effectively causing the Dana 300 to spit it's tailshaft out without the use of proper tools
I have since removed them and the traction bar and have a nice set from Con-Fer in their place.

Those look good, they look like a Johnny joint and I had not heard of them . I wonder how they handle on road, it appears the outside may stabilize them but they flex under pressure? If I break something up front might have to give those a shot. I definitely wouldn't run revolvers up front, just seems unsafe.
I founds a cheap set on craigslist early last year and run it like that. I haven't had any issues and seem to get lots of flex. That's why I was wondering what happened to the popularity of these things. You can always tighten or loosen the bolt so they open easier or not at all.

More good info to be aware of, I do run a ladder as I run softer springs for flex and didn't want to experience wrap... again . I might be a little short on power though too
Thanks guys for the input. I like to know as much as I can about my . Anyway, I rounded this up from a run a couple years ago with a Toy. I have to say it is watching the rear shackle open up. I am the dork in the Cards shirt -as usual-. My buddy's TJ broke once on this (in my profile pics) but CJ007 walks right up and has yet to break anything on it. Score one for the old school
