Rhino liner

Rhino liner
That is some funny s#it! Poor bastard. That is something I'd have probably kept to myself- hurculiner on your hootus- Hello- Ace hardware? yes, I seemed to have superglued my pecker shut, any ideas? Is that laughter?
GEEEEEZ!:D

I find it hard to believe that was 10 years ago, wow I have laughed my head off a lot reading that

Have any of you had your tub and/or the inside of your fender wells rhino lined? Its something that i plan on having done and I just wanted to hear some of your comments and thoughts about it. Also how much did it cost you if you dont mind me asking? Thanks

I had the tub of my CJ5 done with LineX bed liner. One of the best things I've ever done to it. Really helped reduce road noise and it looks great. I don't even need floor mats, but I still use'em. IMHO I wouldn't use Rhino liner because the black color tends to fade and get blotchy in the sunlight. LineX doesn't do that. Also, the shop that did it for me taped everything off and made sure the drain plugs weren't covered up. They did an excellent job.

Do it, you wont regret it...

Geez that's hilarious!
Good reason to wear gloves.
Nothing like protection.

No matter what brand is used, PREP is most important.
I've used a product called SEM. I got it at an auto paint store. I bought the spray gun that they sell for it. It comes in Black but they also have a verson that can be colored any color you want. It doesn't fade or peel. I sprayed it on and it came out shiney but rough. I sprayed it in a truck bed. The bed was orange. I colored the liner with the cheapest paint of the same paint code as the bed. It came out great. I've used it on other things like the inside of a friend's Jeep tub. My 2 cents.

CJ5 - thanks for the welcome. I've been a member of this forum for over a year. I've been using another forum regularly. But now I realized that since this forum is specifically devoted to CJ's, I believe I'll be on here much more.

The SEM bed liner I spoke of can be tinted to any color. It's designed (probably like most bed liners) not to come off. I got some overspray on a pickup bed one time (only a spot) and called to find out how to get it off. They told me the only way to remove it in that case is to sand it off. There are no solvents that will take it off. I can't remember in any case where the liner has faded or peeled. I'm going to do the inside of my tub one of these days. Also, I'm going to do my bumpers and nerfs. I've found that for the inner fender wells and for the underside of my Jeep, the 3M Underseal Rubberized Undercoating works for me. It comes in a spray can, and does a good job of staying on. Like I said earlier, the better the PREP the better it works.

Looks like they have 2 different types or tintable liner.

I have used a couple different liners through the years.

Duplicolor spray cans didn't work very well, did the prep work, did it on a hot day, let it dry, peeled right off within a couple months.

Herculiner roll on kit worked pretty good on the inside of my XJ. Found the gallon kit at my local ACE hardware store for $75. Put 2 coats on the interior and then dumped a good portion on the driver front floor board under the pedals.

I have a buddy who does line-X and he says doing a truck bed adds about 200 pounds. It would cost me about $200-250 for him to do the inside of my CJ6 .

I think your friends line-x estimate might be a little off with the 200lb. If my whole truck is done at somewhere around 2-3 times the sq. footage, i would have added 400-600lbs to my suspension. I too have a friend in the Military that has a line-x business and estimated my total added weight to be between150-200lbs at a thickness of near .125 inches. (more weight if thicker obviously)

You guys need to check out the best product I have ever used.

U-POL RAPTER

It can be purchased at TP Tools & Equipment or tcpglobal.com

It will cost you about $100 - $120 for the kit and prep-supplies. The kit comes with the gun you need to spray it on.

Some of the products mentioned above smell for a long period of time or get soft when your jeep is in the sun. This stuff stay on and remains hard.

Oh, it IS tintable to match your color

Also check out Linex.com or linerextreme. The Rapter is still the best in my opinion. Check it out.

I did the Duplicolor roll-on budget liner inside mine. I think it turned out great but then again anything new on mine is an improvement. Luckily I didn't get any on my hootus! It was only about $60 for the kit and took an hour or two (not including prep). Definitely cut down on road noise and made the inside rock solid and scratch-proof. Very happy I did it.
