I need to find some quality high density roll bar padding (not pipe insulation) for my 79 CJ5 . The problem is the stock section is 2.5" diameter and I can't find anything for that diameter (most only goes up to 2.25"). Mine is the newer (late 79 and up) style roll bar that has the B-hoop bolted to the floor.

Anyone know a good source or if nothing else someone who sells a OEM replacement?

Thanks Andy.

My only concern with going with the factory cover like that would be that I'd have to cut into the cover where the support bars for my A-pillar hoop ties into the stock sport bar. Given the BestTop kit has a zippered cover, such a modification wouldn't be possible. Would probably be easier (and cheaper) to just get the foam and come up with my own wrap for it.

looks good but what does it cost?? $18 for how much?? and what diameter is it?
that may be great stuff but it's a terrible add. especially now that it's too late to call.

Far away from OEM and probably not what you want but this stuff actually works..

SFI rollbar padding

by clicking the "choose your item" menu bar, I found that you can get 2 size ranges ( 1 5/8" - 2" and 1 1/8" - 1 1/2") in a 36" length for that $18.00. :chug:

If you want SFI approved roll bar padding for racing it is expensive: over $20 for 3 feet. You can get this stuff at Jegs or Summit.
Summit Racing SUM-590101 - Summit Racing® SFI 45.1 Roll Bar Padding - Overview - SummitRacing.com

Roll Bar Padding - Roll Cage Padding
Or if you don't want to spend the extra money for SFI you can get roll bar padding for $8 or less (still 3 foot sections)
ROLL BAR PADDING - JCWhitney
JEGS Roll Bar Padding - JEGS

BTW SFI is a non-profit organization that establishes standards for racing equipment.

Rampage makes roll bar padding specifically for jeeps:

Anyone have the Rampage or BestTop kit? Curious if the cover has one long zipper for the main hoop or if it's broken into 3 zippers to allow for the windshield supports on the 87-91 Wranglers. I have added a front hoop and support bars to my cage, so a single zipper wouldn't work for me.

I have ran into the same problem. Just order the Rampage and "DUH" I have a 6-point cage. No zippered hole for the top forward bars. Don't you just love sending items back with restock fees and shipping! Oh well, live and learn.

Mr Furious, did you ever find padding with a large enough diameter to wrap the roll cage? I have the same problem as you. I have a 6-point roll cage so the Rugged Ridge and Rampage zippered padding does not work AND it seems nobody makes the foam tubing with a large enough inside diameter (2.5in) to fit over my bars.
