Is there any reason not to run around the desert with my front axle locked into 4wd [it has full time locker] and my Transfer Case in 2wh? It just makes it so much easier to drive....

I would say it is O.K. Since your axles are rotating, it will provide lubrication to the axle and pinion seals. In the case of a front driveshaft not being correctly aligned, like with a lift kit installed, it could provide a little more wear on the front u-joints. I you go do the trails around Moab, Utah, you will have to do the same thing, since it does make you drive alot on solid rock. I don't remember but I hope that the Dana 20 Transfer Case shifts easier than the Dana 300 .

No it does't hurt it to drive around with the hubs locked in 2wd. I've knowen people who locked their hubs at the start of winter and didn't unlock them till spring. That way if they needed 4wd all they had to was shift it to 4hi

:agree:you should be fine. I run a lot of trails like that, I don't want to get out and lock the hubs everytime I need 4wd.

By "full time locker" I'm assuming you have some kind of detroit or lunch box locker.

You'll get the locker ratcheting a lot as you go around corners when you have good traction. That will wear things out a little faster but not by a whole lot. It can get dicey if you have to drive on ice.

But while you're tooling around in the desert, leaving it locked won't really be a problem. If you hit the pavement to get to/from the off roading area, you could unlock just the drivers side to make turning on the pavement a little easier on the drivetrain.
