- 1973 CJ5 "Project" Jeep - Frame Swap in Progress! 304 V8, Dana 30 front & Dana 44 rear (3.73 gears), T15 3 spd. & Dana 20 Transfer case, 4" lift and 33's. /
2008 JK - 3" lift, 35's, Sleeved Dana 30 front axle and Dana 44 rear with 4.88 Gears, HD tie rods & trackbar, and...
Wow... Where to begin! 1) Comparing the CJ moniker of "Civilian Jeep" to "Chrysler Jeep" is a travesty! It is marketing genius for those that have no understanding of history, but it is an offense to those that do!
As for the CJ vs. JK comparison (or any other model class) it is not an apples to orange comparison... The JK is comfortable, modern, reliable, reasonably armored underneath from the factory, and there many, many options to modify it - and more all the time - just bring money! I know, there are 3 JK's in the family (hence the Broke, Happy & Wheelin' tag - emphasis on the "Broke" part
)
However, all of the those things listed above are NOT why we bought a CJ are they? Really, how many of you have a "stock" CJ??? We bought them because they are gnarly beasts that we can customize to make our own, while we cuss and fume (and drink beer with our friends) in the garage - lovin' every minute of it! They are an amazing part of history that was engineered to go places most vehicles won't, and it's our mission in life to take them there!
That my friends, is the real reason we own a CJ! :grinjeep:
