I need to know from anybody that has done the swap, what you did as far as exhaust, headers, or factory manifolds. Id like to use factory cast iron manifolds but I need to know if they'll work with the jeep, and what you took em from if you did use chevy manifolds, I have a couple different ones to choose from but I don't wanna find out in the middle of trying to get it running that I have to use headers. I'm trying to plan my budget on this swap a little.

I don't have many pics but here's a few I have.
It started with the old style ramhorn manifolds. I'm starting to think I'll go back to them as headers are apain.
I than went to the tight tuck style with a single outlet.
I now have the hedman conversion headers which are a real pain for plugs. bad pics but you get the idea.

I have the older "ram horn" style center dump Corvette manifolds on mine, and they work great. Spark plug changes are a breeze with them.

Thanks fellas, I'm happy to know I can use em. Every set of headers I've ever owned have been a pia to keep gaskets in em and bolts tight, that's why I want to stay away from em, that and I have manifolds already, plus its goin to be built mostly stock.

While I have your ear (or eyes for that matter) what did you do for a clutch linkage. I'm going with the sm420.

I used a factory Chevy bell with the hydraulic slave cylinder mounted to the side of it. I think it was from either a 1986 or 87, it was super easy I used a factory Jeep clutch master cylinder to feed the Chevy slave. That way you don't need to Fab up brackets for the linkage and deal with possible binding while off-road.

i am doing a similar tranny swap soon and this answered my question about clutch operation. im going to go with a sm465 i thing though.

I used the factory exhaust manifolds from the 1990 Suburban or pickup truck. I have fuel injection so the drivers side manifold has the O2 sensor screwed into it. Everything clears just fine, no leaks no gaskets needed and no melted plug wire boots, easy to change spark plugs. For the Transmission , I used the GM style bellhousing with the hydraulic slave cylinder bolted to it and it works just fine with the factory Jeep master cylinder. I used M.O.R.E.'s full capture motor mounts that bolt right in and position the engine at the proper angles and spacing.

I have long tube headers from an older corvette and they work great. buy locking header bolts that have the e-clip and they never come loose. They fit very close to the frame but they work fine.

Would those be for a C2 or C3 Corvette? Do you remember the brand?

I built my own.

While still fitting up the collectors, before paint:
Fabbedheaders7.webp

After paint, on the other side:

Fabbedheaders6.webp

Probably don't help much here...but thought I'd share. :chug:
