Scrambler project vs. Tools
From what I've seen , you Eastern folks don't have much luck finding solid older rigs. Buy em when you find em, worry about the rest later and start a new savings for tools. Ya still have a date with a 8 :chug:

You voted Surrey.

Go for the Scrambler. I'm biased as that is the holy grail for me. I want one bad but will have to wait until I retire in another 4 years. I would get the 8 and search for the tools I needed on the cheap on C-list as another poster stated.

Personally, I'd be buying the tools. There isn't much anything that tops having the proper tools to do the job at hand. Both faster and a higher quality result. I watched my father get by on the farm with basically :dung: for tools for a couple decades and some of the "farmer engineered" results would make the typical bubba blush. And I think if he had ever actually analyzed the cost of farming some projects out that he couldn't do, being a cheap a-- actually cost him a lot more money.

I started a tool collection early and have never looked back. With too many projects and inadequate tooling, you stand a good prospect of not getting anything together in a timely manner.
