Yesterday my CJ started to screech every time I accelerated from a stop. It will screech all the way through the first gear into the 2nd. It stops if it is in 2nd and I take my foot off the gas. I then can continue to accelerate without the screech.

Dang i wish I wish I could screech into 2nd gear.

Fooling aside, filling out your profile will help narrow the tranny's etc and help us identify the issue.

Does it do this if you just setting and press on the gas, it may just be your fan belt or power steering belt if you have power steering, check your belts they may just need to be tightened. Or can you tell that it is coming from the driveline?

check tranny and Transfer Case fluid. could be running dry of fluid.

Mine does this until it warms up. I know mine is a belt. Especially after it rains.

Does sound like a belt (s) as others have mentioned. When in neutral, and you rev the engine, is the noise still there or is it there only when in first and accelerate......and, does it go away when completely warmed up? Or only when cold?
