ON THE HUNT AGAIN
Yup sad to say it but I'm selling the CJ5 , however I've located a CJ8 .
If all works out I'll have a new project, if it doesn't :( I'll have to get a regular truck. As a homeowner I really need the benefits a truck provides.
So here's hoping I get the 8.

Anyone else had to do this at some point then bought another jeep later?

sad to hear. alot of people have to do stuff like this one time or another when times are hard. then a few years later get another one cause they miss that feeling they had while drive that car or truck. hopefully you can get the 8 and still be in a cj.

Wow, that sucks...I can say that I have never had to sell a jeep for any other reason than I just wanted to. But I have never owned one as a anything other than a toy, so I never relied on it for anything but to supply fond memories and and good times. I hope you get the 8 if that's what you'll need. What about just a beater pick up instead? I sold one of my old Dodge trucks for $500 a few years ago. It's still running around town as a casual use dump and home depot runner for the guy I sold it to.

Just did the same recently. Sold a CJ7 Id been working on for a year and a half and all sorts of parts Id been collecting for my CJ5 to aquire a CJ8 . Ive always liked the Cj-8s and with 3 kids from 11 to 13 it was time. Now Im looking at grabbing another one to wheel and leave more in "pickup" mode.

Well I'm tempted by a CJ6 , the main reasons for the sell of the CJ5 , 1 need a truck to haul stuff, but I could get a trailer. 2 old age and arthur and a really bad shoulder the manual steering of my current ride is getting to be to much. Plus with the family I could use the extra room.
We still have a Jeep, my wifes '06 Rubicon Unlimited, it's not a CJ but it's still a jeep.
I could convert to power steering but I'm still stuck with no room and no hauling ability.
So I'm looking at the CJ8 , CJ6 , truck but I have to sell the CJ5 first.

What you think a '79 CJ5 , AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l , T-150 , Dana 20 , 4" superlift, 33" superswampers, Dana 30 , AMC20 , preped for TBI conversion (have all the parts) new bikini, soft top and doors, hard top and doors, and misc. bits and pieces. Plus just rebuilt the Transmission and Transfer Case with a new clutch. Only asking $5000 fair price or should I adjust it. The prices on craigslist vary so much it's hard to judge.

Brock, I sold my CJ5 , years ago for a pick-up for the extra room I needed at the time. Now I have a truck and a CJ7 . I found I could not live without a cj for the trails. If a 6 or a 8 will give you the room for hauling you need I would go that way, for me I needed the extra room of the truck bed.
The price you are asking for your 5 sounds reasonable for my area. Good luck whatever you do.:chug:

My condolences to you, Brock. Sorry to here you have to give up your CJ. I just don't consider the late model coil sprung vehicles to be the same as a CJ. I hope you get it worked out. I can definitely understand the need for a truck I have a F-350 4X4 & a Dodge Cummins 12 valve, both with 8 foot beds. I could never be without a CJ though. Good luck.

Tnx even if I end up with a truck, I'll hang around and shoot the s&*t until another CJ joins the family again.

1981 Jeep Scrambler $2700 6 cylinder tan Jeep scrambler with around AMC 150 ,000 miles in running condition.

I'm eyeballing it, lol.
that sounds like a good deal wish I could afford an 8. And yes on several occasions iv'e sold my Jeep because of certain circumstances but always replaced with another.

Well it's official the JEEP has been sold. :(
I now own a '05 GMC truck and an '06 Rubicon Unlimited.
I'll be in and out from time to time. I've really enjoyed the
site and the great people here. Keep the tradition going!

So....because you don't have a CJ right now you are leaving the site???WTF??? You know how many people are on jeep sites that have never even owned ANY Jeep in their entire life? You stay right where you are and keep posting mister. You still have knowledge to pass on to others.

Brock
You cannot leave, just as your love for CJs will never leave you
I know, I own 4 jeeps of 3 different generations
Stick around, you are a nice part of the group, one of the reasons I keep coming back.
Face it, forums are a dime a dozen, as is the reason for the forum, we have a nice community here and you are part of it.
