Shackle Question I Was Asked...
Thanks for sending that in Pa, those pics are pretty convincing to ditch those stamped steel jobs or at least rework them. Some guys just put gussets in them. I have not really heard of any issues with any of the aftermarket ones though. I have also seen a few cracked frames next to the front spring pivot hangar from guys who install those 4" lift springs. Usually a weld job will fix that though.
 
Hmmmmm, another thing to watch for.
 
I think my jeep would steer better if the front shackles didn't give from side to side (3" aftermarket). Only two bolts hold the shackle mounts and they are positioned front and rear under the frame. A left and right bolt pattern would be much stronger IMO.

I thought about replacing the stock shackle mounts but with the current bolt pattern from front to rear, what's the use?

Yes, years ago I had taken a stock pair and added webs to the side. They worked well for years. But during my resto-mod I've gone with the MORE mounts since I went with wider springs.
