Shock question
No biggie brother, a forum should never be a place where people beat their chests over how much they know. Rather, a place where those of us that don't understand can find some help. It's about the joy of the jeep!

This is one of the two reasons I hang out here..... not only do we have many knowledgeable folks here willing to share what they know, we have VERY few that will chastise you for not knowing what they do. I learned quickly the "other popular Jeep forum" is not a place to ask questions - just a good place to lurk, read, and keep your pie hole shut. They will bite you in a heartbeat.

This isn't a great place to learn, without fear of being bitten, so don't ever feel the need to apologize for not knowing something - we've all been there, and I for one am still there...... we're glad your here :chug:

Hobiedad, my 80 CJ7 has some pretty heavily arched springs, along with Rancho shocks which are reputed to be almost brutally stiff. The ride in my machine will make a strong man cry, and a couple hours causes the stock in Advil to go up as I try to kill the back pain.

What to do? I took out two leaves from the rear springs; not enough! I am going to geld the front springs and get some Monroe shocks. I have just done a tie rod flip to keep them off the springs.

I have read about two approaches... Old Man Emu springs (big bucks) and YJ leaf springs from my favorite used part purveyor (spring seat readjustment welding).

I have 35's, keep the pressure below 22. I just gotta get rid of more spring leaves, maybe holding on to three outta six, watch my spring hangers carefully, and get some shocks that really do cushion the road hits.
