So I have an all but rust free 84 CJ8 that will have to drive on and off for the next year before I can do any real work on it. I was thinking of buy a case of Rust-Oleum to hit the under body and drive train and was curious to hear any comments as to weather this was worth it or just making more work down the road.

Thanks.

:)I don't think it will make a difference either way in one year on the floors or body but if its in the frame..........anything you could do there to slow down the rust be it paint or some Rust Stop solutions like POR from Eastwood might not be a bad Idea.

Heavily salted roads here in the winter so figured it couldn't hurt.

Thanks.

It wont hurt but Id take some time and prep it well. Then use some of the higher quality coatings like Tarry mentioned. Niether will make you more work and will protect the undercarriage a bit.

You probably dont want to hear this but if you really want to save that Scrambler garage it over the Salty season. Grab up a rusted CJ7 with good running gear and swap a galvanized Yj tub on it. Theres your Salty season runner. :D

Disclamer: I am pretty good at spending your money dont you think?;)

Just make sure there aren’t any floor mats laid down for water to sit under or the floor will rust and pit in no time. (Been there done that file)

If you just want something to slow it down and not spend the time doing prep, use undercoating in an aerosol. I like Hitec brand but that's personal preference. Just pressure wash everything and start spraying once dry.
