Does anyone still make shorty headers for a CJ5 with amc v-8?

Same part # for A.I.R and with out. I'd get ahold of the techs and make sure they are the same and there ya go.

I put a set of Flowtech headers on mine, ordered them from Summit, and they are fairly inexpensive. Inside the frame rails, and the fit to the frame is pretty good. As with most headers, I had some issues with the flange bolts that came with the headers, and I purchased allen head bolts for some ease, and I still had to ding them in a bit to get the bolts in. Also, I can't get a socket onto my spark plugs anymore, have to use a wrench now... Headers just suck, really, and you have to put up with a lot of bullcrap on install and with upkeep... but that sound, oh man that sound is worth the headaches...

I'm planning to un-do the soa on my 74 and I'm pretty sure the fenderwell headers are going to have to go also. I may even go back to regular exhaust manifolds.

I AGREE....THEY SUCK BIGTIME... I went back to iron manifolds this week...I have a set of headers anyone can HAVE if they want to pay shipping from Fla... Iron manifolds are not "tuned" the way headers are, but I honestly dont think it will make a lot of difference. And if either headers or manifolds are bolted up to a AMC 304 , then there are more severe breathing issues in the SMALL valves smothering out the engine, than the small gain from headers. Plus hopefully the frequent blown gasket issues are a thing of the past.

And I'd be willing to bet that headers themselves arent producing a lot of sound. It is prob the mufflers doing most of it.

If you want them, pay for shipping to you, and they will not be taking up valuable garage space anymore...
