Have a 1985 CJ7 , v8, where is the ignition module located inside firewall or outside firewall, can you make it run without ignitmodule, i cannot find on on this jeep, The jeep will not start when cold with the starter, pull it off and it starts great, when I measure the coil voltage it is 6 volts, is this normal, any suggestions

The oem location for the icm is below the overflow bottle. If your engine runs good, a bad icm will not be the issue. Pull what off and it starts great? The coil voltage is supposed to be at 6 volts, a resistance wire is what cuts the voltage down to protect the icm. Welcome to the forum.

Welcome!

If it cranks but won't start without rolling it off down hill and popping the clutch, I'd check to see if the choke is working correctly, especially if it runs fine after you get it going.

X2 on the choke if it started up fine when it was hot weather but doesn't now that it's cold outside.
