Slave cylinder would leak out all the fluid, decided to replace. Bled system, however, when I engage the clutch, the slave pushes out the rod...when I disengage the clutch, the rod stays...I push the clutch again, rod goes out further, after about 10 clutch pushes, the rod pushes completely out of the slave cylinder, and the fluid dumps.

I put back together the rod/slave etc, rebled, tried again. Same results.
Researched it, some say Master cylinder piston is stuck. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Defective 'slave' cyl or MC.
Where did you get it?
Hope your not buy'n cheap China junk--
LG

Not sure if it's Cheap China Junk, bought it from Advance Auto, made by Perfection Clutch TECHnovation, company website says "state of the art facilities in North America and Asia" (best bet is it is from China!)

Since the previous slave was doing the exact same thing, I'm gonna lean towards the MC.

Got to NAPA and see what they can do.
Take the clutch MC and slave in with you.
Also make sure the fluid line is not pinched or restricted.
Good luck,
LG

Your slave cylinder is not purging fluid back into the master cylinder. Why I don't know, heck I don't even know how that is possible. I've had this sort of thing with a H-D brake system. I set the brake pedal to low and the cylinder didn't retract enough to allow fluid to flow back to the reservoir. When the fluid got hot it locked up the brake, well it didn't lock up, the brake started to drag. This is the same sort of thing happening to you. Hmmm, thought, is your brake pedal able to return all the way to the top?

Thanks for the help. 99.9% sure the line isn't restricted, took it off when I put on slave, easier to remove the line and put on slave outside of vehicle, then to try and get the right angle from underneath. It moved freely around, and if line was restricted, I would think it wouldn't pump fluid to the slave either. Also, when I bleed it, the fluid spurts out of the bleeder valve on the slave with good force.

Hedgehog, yeah, brake comes back up. And with my setup, brake master cylinder and clutch MC are two seperate entities, do not share resevoirs. Good point, if anyone else has this issue.

Sorry, I was using the brake problem I had as an example of how your problem might be related. Stumbled over my own words. Hydraulic systems are largely the same, with the clutch system being much simpler. If your clutch pedal is adjusted low or prevented from returning back to a full top end stroke the fluid in your slave cylinder can't return to the reservoir.

Ahhh ok, I got you! I bought the jeep, never messed with the clutch pedal yet, maybe I bought it jacked up! Will look at that as well, thanks!

I've also heard of this happening to brakes if the rubber flex lines break down (inside) and a piece of the hose allows the fluid to go to the caliper and acts like a check valve when you take your foot off the brake. Just enough for the brake to drag.
