Curious on this one. I have a Best top on my 83 CJ7 . With the top on,side curtains in place, I can fairly easily slide the rear bow,the one with the lock tabs, all the way up to the very top hole, and without to much force beyond the top hole (over center if you will) until it goes sloppy loose again. The top is fairly new and in perfect condition. Seems to me on my 5 it was near impossible to just get the keepers to the first lock hole. Am I doing something wrong here. BTW, were still in the mid 80ies+ here temp wise if that matters.

If you do not have the instruction sheet for your CJ softop, they can be found online. Look it up under Bestops CJ instruction page:

Make sure the model you got is actually for your CJ. There is not alot of difference, but the roll bars are different on some models which might make the attachment points a little different. May be the right one, may not. Just a thought. Rod

Definitely for the 7, It fits good and its been on for a while, just seems like its not normal to be able to slide the lock tabs into the upper holes that easy. The manual doesnt say much regarding this either.

Interesting as I would say the bows are to small for the 7's top based on mine.
