I don't trust these modern cars and all the ability for remote software updates/changes. I read about Ram trucks where someone could hack in remotely and apply the brakes while you were driving, and even saw a video demonstration of someone doing just that as a test. Of course Ram claims to have now fixed that issue with what? - another software update. I have a friend with a Tesla that got locked inside the vehicle because some software update was pushed out over the air while he was in the vehicle, but not driving. Apparently if the vehicle was sitting with all doors closed, but not "on" or driving, it would think it was OK to apply the software update and temporarily disable features lock the electronic door locks (the unlocking part) during the update.

Concerning how much control over your vehicle others have (the manufacturer, government, law enforcement, hackers, etc) when you have these newer cars with all the remote access into the computers and operating systems. And of course, how much data are they also retrieving back from your vehicle (where you've been, how long you were there, your speeds, the radio stations you listen to, contacts or other data from your bluetooth connected phone, etc)?

But then again, maybe I'm just paranoid...

Think I just heard about another lawsuit about people getting trapped in one getting burned to death in an accident and doors couldn’t be unlocked because battery was burning up. I want to find a used pickup but finding one that’s not someone else’s nightmare is scaring the out of me.
