Still using the factory steel tank. Thought about 3 or 4 3/4" or 1" holes drilled in it for drainage to make sure mud and water have a place to go.

That is a good idea. CJ tanks or any tank for that matter will rust quickly.

Very nice. I like the green on green.:chug:

You guys look to be moving right along. Looking good.

Nicely done. Is your son helping too?

Yes since I have a bad back, he has done a lot of the work. It's good for him, can't get into trouble if I take up his free time :)

That is correct sir!! My daughter is coming to AZ to visit for a couple weeks from MN. I am putting her and my 8 year old son to work starting my tear down. I might be missing a couple of bolts when it is done being torn down, but it will be worth it to have her and my son helping me. Oh, and she is a car nut. :D

I know what your talking about there, I have found bolts and small brackets in a few locations and odd boxes. It is almost funny when I ask how something goes back together that he took apart and you get this look and a "I think I know how I that went together" In other news, he has a new girlfriend that is really into cars and turning wrenches. Looks like I may have more slave labor!!

My youngest will be 12 and he has decided he wants a flatty for his first vehicle. Makes me happy he is also into Jeeps. Only problem is he is ready to get it now. Told him we have to finish this build before I can start another.

defibvt;207790 You might want to slit a rubber grommet in half and put in this whole to protect from chaffing.[/quote said:
Yep we have that take care of, I still have the factory split grommet and metal clamp to protect the wires once they all get routed :chug:

Oh my, you are in for it. :notworthy:

Looking good. The green really stands out with the black. I just started tear down of mine.

Oops wrong 74 cj
Sorry

No pics yet, but we picked up a GM alternator that we wired as a 2 wire set-up. Still need to measure and get the battery cable to run to it. Had to do a bit of fab work on the original mount since the new alternator has a fan that is almost the diameter of the housing and the old one had a pretty small fan. Figures they wouldn't interchange. Think it's still going to work fine. Also mounted the grille and ran wiring for the park, turn and headlights. Still need to run wiring for the distributor and water and oil sending units. Still have a long list, but it's getting shorter!

Body work has been finished on the passenger side and the tub is now completely painted. Will be having a Jeep n Pizza party Friday to install new master cylinder and brake hoses and bleed system, install hood and possibly a new rear main seal. Now that school is out for the summer the oldest will have more time to work on it :) Hoping she will be ready for the street in a couple weeks. Will grab the camera and get some updated pics. Been a little over a year on this project and can't wait to fire it up again!

Well after flaring the new brake lines multiple times(darn thing just wouldn't seal).... we now have working brakes. Still need to do some adjusting of the shoes and wheel bearings up front but its all installed and bled. Electrical system is done minus routing the charging wire from the relay to the alternator and a new cable to the starter. Passenger seat arrived over the weekend.

The to-do list is getting shorter.
Install hood
Wrap up electrical items
Wheel bearings/adjust brakes on front
Change front diff fluid/extend breather hose
Change oil/filter (father installed new rear main seal)
Install pass seat and both front seat belts
Paint and remount roll bar and front/rear bumpers
Order new shocks
Few other small odds and ends
And after a little over a year.....test drive!!
