Haven't updated in a while but we have gotten a little further, Santa has dropped off more parts. New rubber pads for the brake, clutch and e-brake pedals and rubber to seal the steering column and clutch rod where they go through the floor. New clutch fork boot and grill to frame mounts.
Steering column and pedal assembly are cleaned up and given a coat of gloss black.
Dash has been cut so it fits now and have cut out for the steering column, holes for turn signal, high beams and alternator idiot light as well as the oh- bar.
Received the first of two poly seats similar to what I used in my stock car way back when. Came with fixed and sliding mounts. Seat mount is narrower than the factory seat so I got some 1/4" flat stock to have welded between the existing pieces, neighbor is going to take care of that for me.
Today brown santa dropped off more goodies!!
2 new turn/taillight assemblies and a new pump for the windshield washer.
And the best part.......brand new Speedhut gauges!!!
GPS Speedo, tach, oil, water, volts and programmable fuel gauge along with a lot of baggies full of important looking stuff to wire it all up.
Things are slowly moving along. Next project will be getting seat mounts modified, install gauges and build the wiring harness. Still plan to have her on the road this summer.

Got the new gauges cut in and test fitted. Next up, building the wiring harness then take it back apart to finish painting. Still need to decide what I'm going to do about lighting the switches.
Getting closer......
Got a little further, we did a little fab work on the drivers seat mount. Found we didn't need the adjustable mount that came with it, just the sliding mount. Had to cut the front to lower it a bit then add a couple new pieces of flat stock since the mounts for the original seats were wider than the new one. Added a couple extra washers on the rear so it doesn't lean back quite so much.
The dash has been painted and we got to install it today. Ran into a little snag. Couldn't get the dash in with the gauges and the steering column all together. Had wired up everything we could with the dash clamped on a table. Didn't want to have to redo that so we pulled the pedal/steering column assembly to get it out of the way. Much easier to install the dash.
The camera flash really changes the colors. We bundled most of the wires so it should be nice and clean when everything gets hooked up.
Since she originally came with a few glass fuses, I made a change and am running two (only have one so far) fuse panels that will go on the fire wall. One will supply power to anything powered by Acc power, the other will supply Ign source power. I copied the oroginal wiring diagram and then sat down with my CAD program and redesigned it so everything is fused. Will also be running headlights and ignition off of relays
Still a lot of work ahead.
Also dropped the windshield frame off at the glass shop and they said I should have it back tomorrow. She's starting to look like a Jeep again!!!!
That is correct sir!! My daughter is coming to AZ to visit for a couple weeks from MN. I am putting her and my 8 year old son to work starting my tear down. I might be missing a couple of bolts when it is done being torn down, but it will be worth it to have her and my son helping me. Oh, and she is a car nut.

I know what your talking about there, I have found bolts and small brackets in a few locations and odd boxes. It is almost funny when I ask how something goes back together that he took apart and you get this look and a "I think I know how I that went together" In other news, he has a new girlfriend that is really into cars and turning wrenches. Looks like I may have more slave labor!!
My youngest will be 12 and he has decided he wants a flatty for his first vehicle. Makes me happy he is also into Jeeps. Only problem is he is ready to get it now. Told him we have to finish this build before I can start another.

More progress has been made. Glass company installed new windshield, so we got that mounted. Since that was installed, figured may as well mount the wipers, sun visors and rear view mirror, it's the small things that count
Wiring under the dash is complete except for running a horn wire and an extra power wire for a future radio. Still have to drill the bottom of the dash to mount the heater switch and cables.
Also got the drivers front fender mounted. Need to mount the horn and washer fluid bottle and going to try and get the radiator overflow canister next to it.
Once the dash is finished, will move on to the engine compartment wiring, install more body parts. It sure is a nice feeling seeing the boxes of parts start to be emptied
No pics yet, but we picked up a GM alternator that we wired as a 2 wire set-up. Still need to measure and get the battery cable to run to it. Had to do a bit of fab work on the original mount since the new alternator has a fan that is almost the diameter of the housing and the old one had a pretty small fan. Figures they wouldn't interchange. Think it's still going to work fine. Also mounted the grille and ran wiring for the park, turn and headlights. Still need to run wiring for the distributor and water and oil sending units. Still have a long list, but it's getting shorter!
Body work has been finished on the passenger side and the tub is now completely painted. Will be having a Jeep n Pizza party Friday to install new master cylinder and brake hoses and bleed system, install hood and possibly a new rear main seal. Now that school is out for the summer the oldest will have more time to work on it Hoping she will be ready for the street in a couple weeks. Will grab the camera and get some updated pics. Been a little over a year on this project and can't wait to fire it up again!
Well after flaring the new brake lines multiple times(darn thing just wouldn't seal).... we now have working brakes. Still need to do some adjusting of the shoes and wheel bearings up front but its all installed and bled. Electrical system is done minus routing the charging wire from the relay to the alternator and a new cable to the starter. Passenger seat arrived over the weekend.
The to-do list is getting shorter.
Install hood
Wrap up electrical items
Wheel bearings/adjust brakes on front
Change front diff fluid/extend breather hose
Change oil/filter (father installed new rear main seal)
Install pass seat and both front seat belts
Paint and remount roll bar and front/rear bumpers
Order new shocks
Few other small odds and ends
And after a little over a year.....test drive!!
