Hey guys,

So I installed new tires on my CJ5 , but i held off on replacing the spare tire to save a couple of hundred bucks, and because it had no treadwear. My concern is that the spare has been on the jeep since i bought it from the PO, which makes it over six years old. I also noticed small cracks (See Pic) running along the sidewall after the tire guy put some air in it. The spare is a different manufacturer, but the exact same size as the new tires. On the outside chance i get a flat, do you think its safe to use this spare, or should I cough up the cash to buy a new one?

Thanks!

Josh

The tread is separating from the tire.
Get a new one-Ain't worth the crash.
Do a 5 tire rotation from now on......

Do you feel lucky ?
Do you like walking great distances ?
Do you like waiting hours for someone to come help you ?
The price of a new spare tire could be MUCH cheaper NOW than the cost of RESCUE later.

Thanks guys for the brutally honest feedback.

Got an ex-wife looking for a tire if you are interested in getting rid of it.:driving::driving:

Done And Done! :)

Good choice in tires.
I've been run'n 33", BFG AT's for over 25 yrs.
Do you worry about hang'n that jack up, when out on the trail?

Maybe they are brake-a-way bolts

Thanks! I love these tires.
I usually have the jack a couple of inches higher up. Hasn't gotten hooked on anything yet. :)
