My 1983 Jeep CJ7 has spark, new solenoid, new battery, new plugs, new wiring, new distributor cap, fuel, cranks, but will not start, even with starter fluid. Any help appreciated?
History: Jeep sat for about a year and everything worked fine until my rear driveshaft busted. I never fixed it, but decided to finally do so. Now the Jeep will not start. Drive shaft hasn't been installed, fyi. Thank you in advance.

Have you double checked TDC on #1 that the rotor is lined up with the post that #1 wire is on? Double checked firing order? Correct rotation? Just thinking of a few simple things that sometimes happen after changing cap and wires.

The engine should at least backfire if you have spark and you are squirting ether down the carb. Check everything that hole said, and also check your compression. You might want to eliminate an egregious vacuum leak first by pulling the coil wire, then put your hand over the carb throat while someone cranks the engine. You should feel a strong vacuum. Which engine do you have? I know that many of us with AMC 304 's that use an OEM fuel pump have fuel problems when trying to start after the Jeep sits for a few weeks, even a few days. If you have compression, and a good vacuum, try pouring a small amount of gas instead of ether directly down the carb throat. Put the air cleaner back on before cranking just in case it backfires. Don't want to have flames shooting to the top of your garage.

I would agree with what has already been suggested. If you have fuel and spark that combine correctly, something has got to pop.

How did you confirm spark?
Is the dizzy tightened down, or does it move around?
Run a 'jumper' from the POS(+)side of the battery to the POS(+)side of the coil.
See if it will start.
