So, to shoot off from NASCAR - Specialized race vehicles or 'Stock Cars'?, now that General Motors and Chrysler have filed for bankruptcy why are there still Chevy and Dodge race teams? Why, when you and I every other taxpayer owns something like 70% of GM are they still allowed to sponsor race cars and races?

It's that kind of :dung: that really pisses me off, not only did the government dump almost 50 BILLION DOLLARS in "bail out" money, and they still went bankrupt, but no one talks about that, but it's been allowed to happen! Why hasn't every person that works in the coorporate offices of GM not been fired? And why hasn't the government stepped in and thrown the UAW out of there? Seriously, does the guy that test opens the doors of new cars really deserve a $45 an hour pay check? Is that really a specialised job that deserves that kind of money?

Interesting post...

While I agree that GM and Chrysler now should refrain from 'some' things - I'm not sure about NASCAR, at least totally...

1) Most likely because there are prior obligations. I realize that chapter 11 negates most but where do you draw the line? Do you just stop NASCAR? Also, most of the teams are NOT sponsored by the big 3 but by teams that use their name.

2) While I feel almost the same as you do, getting rid of all the people that know the inner workings of the company could be detrimental... Noticed I said COULD, I don't have enough information to say WOULD... IMHO - Probably 90% should go!

3) Good question, I work for a very anti union company and have for over 24 years. We pay very comparable wages and for the most part ABOVE the average. Every year we do a wadge survey and we adjust UP - NEVER DOWN to compete with our competitors...

It's a very tough situation we are in now and I do not see a simple answer to our problem!
