I have an 81 scrambler. SR4 Transmission . It jumps out of 1st and 4th gears. I bought a T-4 that was suppose to be good. Did not have enough info to know that what I bought was from a 4 cyl. 14 spline smaller shaft, smaller clutch. Can I make this work ? If so how ? Any help would be appreciated.

I swapped out an SR4 for a T-4 and both were from a AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l and both were the same. Not sure about the 4 cylinder ones. If the length of the input shafts are the same, all you should need is a clutch plate and pilot bearing.

Should be interchangeable, both are a lightweight car Transmission offered in both the 4 and 6 for the last few years of the cj. I would look for a more robust Transmission like the T-176 which was also offered in those yrs.

Could somehow be different. T-4 from a 4 cylinder is going to be hydraulic with different bell house also with slave on outside
