I just purchased this and the PO did some major hack work. One of the things that he did tell me though was he bought a starter solenoid, and believes he wired wrong and fried it. Well today when I got around to looking at it there is also a relay of some sort wired into it as well that also appears to be messed up as it just buzzes. Is this factory? Or did this go to something else and can be deleted? Also is this even the right solenoid? Reason I ask is there are three wires in the factory harness that look as though they should all be used (they have little boots that hook to the post) and there is only two places on this solenoid to hook them up. Any help would be appreciated. here are some pics.

I guess I can take the wire loom off and try. It doesnt have any other accessories at all. I know it used to have a winch. I wonder If that could have been for that. Also according to advance auto the starter solenoid looks just like the one on my jeep so I guess its right. I just dont know what the 3rd wire with the boot is

The relay is wired to the battery end of the starter solenoid.
Electrically it has nothing to do with the starter or it's solenoid. It's just an accessory that the PO had to wire up to the battery. When it is energized it takes 12 volts from the battery and supplies power to who knows what.
Actually it doesn't look like it is doing anything any more. I see ground hooked up. I see a wire going back into the wire loom. That's not enough wires to actually turn on anything.
Double-check to make sure I am looking at it right. If there are only 2 wires on that relay then it isn't in use any more. Disconnect those 2 wires and you won't notice any difference.

EDIT: What I mean to say is there are only 2 connections to the relay. The ground connection has 2 wires. Then there is a 2nd connection that goes back into the wire loom. Disconnect those 2 connections and you won't notice any difference.
