starter troubles

it seems that i have the wrong starter bolts. i have to adjust the starter every time i want to crank it up. does anyone have a photo or advice for bolts?

I got this from Keith360 on JeepForum:

"They are 3/8-16 x 1.25"L Hex Head bolts and you should use a flat washer under the head of the bolt and torque to 33 ft-lbs. Scrape the surface where the bolt and washer are going to make contact with the engine block to insure good grounding. It's OK to use a lockwasher under the hex head of the bolt too if you want but you will need to increase the length of the bolt by another 1/4" or use 3/8-16 x 1.375"L bolts if you can find them.

Sounds like something else may be wrong...? Once the starter is in the bellhousing it should only be able to rotate; not wobble around or move closer or further from the flywheel.

Oryon76, just what kind of problem are you having? is it a problem with the correct mesh with the starter and flywheel gears or just the starter having an electrical type issue. DHugg is correct with the bolt size also and the lockwasher tip can help with making good electrical contact. Especially using the external tooth type of lockwasher.
