starting a 83 cj7 build need advice

I am starting a 83 CJ7 body off frame build and want to build the suspension first . We want to lift it about 2 or 3 inches and find a good balance between street and off road drive ability. The jeep was driving when it was tore down so none of the stock parts where in horrible shape but we want to replace the weak links. My father wants to keep the AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l strait 6 but we want to build more power from it. We are also going to put a hyd clutch in it (any threads on this that someone could point me in the direction of ?) Any advice on what to replace where to start and who the best vendors are will help Thanks

pros cons suspension vs body lift ? ( I am a 4 wheel drive rookie )

I did a 1" body lift just so I could get to stuff easier. I recently had to pull the tank and it was so much easier with the body lift. Plus when you go to wash it you can get to all those nooks and crannys.

If you are going to do a body lift don't go more than a 1". I would say for what you want do a 1" body and a 2 1/2 spring that will give you room for 33's .
