It's looking like it's going to be tough for a few days for you all. Stay safe and protected.
Looks like I might actually have to put socks on! I'm usually in just deck shoes... Still won't put on long pants, haven't in at least six years...

It is winter, although it hasn't really felt like it here in CO this year. Mountains really need the snow and the reservoirs need the water.
Most are used to the cold & snow here. But, I'm sure there're some people out there hording toilet paper now.

Here in Houston, it's going to be "icemageddon". Entire city will shut down Sat evening and all day Sun - maybe even into Monday as temps will be in the low 20's and won't get above freezing even during the day Sun and Mon. Ice/sleet starts falling here tomorrow evening. Since it's rare for us here, highway department doesn't have the right equipment/supplies and most people (including me) don't have snow or ice driving experience. Grab some milk, bread, and toilet paper and hunker down - hoping the power doesn't go out like back in 2021.

Ha! I spoke to a good friend this morning, who lives in Katy, and he said exactly what you're saying.
My oldest boy, at U of Alabama, says Tuscaloosa is ready to shut down the town.
But, my youngest boy at U of Kansas said "No big deal. Just gona be cold here."
Haven't spoken with my daughter today, who's up at Colo State University. I do know she was thinking about going to the Broncos game with her boyfriend on Sunday. Supposed to be one of the coldest games ever in Denver.

It all depends on what you're used to, I guess.
