Did some searching and didn’t come up with anything.... in the process of cleaning up and reassembling the steering column, I noticed the center cap has seen better days - actually the cap is good, but the center clear plastic piece is cracked .... I’m assuming sun damage. Short of replacing the center piece anyone have a handy way to fix this?

Mine was the same. I did some internet searching and found a watch repair company that sent me a number of different sized bezels. I found one that was a close fit, and attached it using black RTV.

I probably have a few of them lying around still, don't know if there is one that will work, but I could send you what I've got.

Hey - Thanks for the offer - would have never thought about a watch crystal..... but makes perfect sense..... Lemme try the chemical approach first - if (when) I kill it, I'll take you up on that offer if you have one large enough.

You could try Acrylic adhesive, then buff.

I have a bottle of this here already

Also thought about Future floor polish - or the equivalent. Many years ago, the plastic model guys would sand down aircraft canopies to get rid of the mold lines, then dip the canopy in the Future polish..... when it dried, they were scary transparent.
