I've searched around and haven't found a definitive answer for my question: "If I convert a full size chevy Dana 44 to an SUA setup, will my 4' lift leaf springs interfere with my tie-rod and drag-link?" In stock jeep D30s both steering components are closer to the top of the knuckle and run inside of the leaf springs, while a stock Chevy Dana 44 is SOA and the steering components run outside and infront of the leaf springs.

I could convert to High-Steer but I'm on a budget and would rather spend that money elsewhere. Most of the threads I've read into, people switch to SOA when converting to a front Dana 44 , so they're not helpful to me. I'm already planning on cutting down the long side axle to 60" wms-wms.

Am I over thinking it? Does anyone have experience or run a similar setup that could post pictures of the clearance between leaf spring and tie-rod? Thanks!

Short answer is that they won't hit the springs.
But the knuckles on a Dana 44 only have a tie-rod hole so you have to either use a Y type steering (as used on Dana 44 's, Torxhead runs this, he has a pic in his gallery) or use high steer arms to keep your cross over steering. Or cheap out like what I did and only use one arm for the draglink and use the knuckles for the tie-rod. (My 44 is out of a fsj and was set-up for sua from the factory)

On my setup there seems to be plenty of clearance with a reversed tie rod from either a Blazer or a Bronco.
