Here's a couple of tricks that I used for installing my windshield...i broke the original one because it had a rock chip...i was changing frames as the old one was very rusty.
-I used weed-eater (grass trimmer) cord.
-I used clamps instead of a helper as they get bored and tend to walk away...
-I used a piece of plywood as a table just a bit bigger than the windshield frame so I could clamp it down as I went.
-I used harbour freight plastic trim tools that I bought for $3.99 and they worked well.
-Plenty of soap and water applied with a small paint brush.
-Windshield, seal, wiper pivots all bought from Morris 4x4...

:chug: Its hard to get good help these days......What about sealer around windsheild?

No sealer...had a hard enough time getting it in without sealer. I talked to a few glass guys in town, half use it and the other half do not.

I put some silicone at the seal joint and overlap the locking bead joint. That's it.

You might want to use sealer all the way around, if you have a lot of rust on the windshield frame already. It's a mess to remove next time you replace it.

Some claim the sealer can trap the moisture and speed up the rusting?

Windshield frame was new.. I live on the West Coast and rust is not much of an issue...Plenty of survivors CJ5 , and CJ7 out here.
