'58 CJ5 Willy's f-134
Just picked up this 58 Willy's and just don't have a clue where to start. I don't think I'm looking to go for a restore as it has fiberglass replacement tub. So looking more for like simple night on the town type stuff. It has original f-134 in it and starts and runs good but can't seem to go faster then like 40-45. I'm not looking for a speed demon here but any suggestions on how to get a few more mph just don't want to be that weirdo driving 40 in a 55. Thinking I want a little bigger tires as well I like the Fuller look then these thin ones. And just overall if you have ideas I'd love to hear them!

Depending on what gears are in the axles, you may have reached your top speed. The older Jeeps are not either build nor safe to drive at highway speeds, they love to flip over. As for starting projects, how about checking the front end for wear, and the brake system for quality? Steering stability is also an issue, you may want to install a new type steering stabilizer to lessen the possibility of "death wobble".

And Lumpy's gonna tell you to change ALL the fluids pronto.....

Nice old Jeep!!

Thank you guys I think the fluids is def where I'll start. I'll let you know what tcase it is when I can got really cold and started snowing last night. Gotta love upstate NY weather. So I was curious that if down the line I wanted to do engine swap I was wondering if the axles and frame can handle more hp and torque? The frame is solid just didn't notice how small the frame actually was.

I guess right now my ultimate goal is how do I get it to ride atleast 50 safely without hurting the engine with rpms. Also increase stability. Lastly any suggestions on improving the breaking?
