Suspension doesn't move
35's are stiff riding to start with. Make sure yours are check'd for roundness and balance.
Also-If you are go'n to run 35's. Don't expect the Model 20 rear axle to last long.

Enough lift to clear 35's on a CJ5 may result in rear driveline angles that are unusable. My springover lifted CJ7 on 35's barely has just enough clearance not to rub anywhere with about 5.5" of suspension lift and wider than stock axles. (58" wms rear, 59.5 wms front) I had to run a CV rear driveshaft and if my rig had about 1 more inch of droop, it would bind the CV, and that is with a 10" longer wheelbase.

I did not drop my Transfer Case , so I don't know how much you could gain there.

Back in 84,85 when the tires last seen the road i had a steel body on it and these are the tires i was running the only thing that was different is the lift. The PO welded, i don't remember if it was 2 or 3 inch square tubing to the frame for the lift. She rolled down the highway pretty good with no probs. The only problem is when i turned the tire would rub on the spring.I shouldn't have a problem with the rear end because its a Dana 44 and front is Dana 30 . Probably should have left the damn square tubing on it

If i could figure out how to post some pics when i post my reply i would but i can get the pics uploaded but that about it.

you've got it torn down as far as you do in first post, so I'd say check into what Terry is saying. The spring over can be done right, and maybe with some stock height YJ OME springs and spring over you can still fit your 35's for what you want to do - and it'll be a nice ride...

You can get smaller shackles then, and longer springs again and work out all your angles when wedling back up the perches etc.

CV rear driveline for sure. If no rocks and such, you could get away with lowering your Transfer Case angle slightly (don't go overboard here or intake will end up in the firewall when you jam the gas in a dune... ;) )

You've got some options...

You can also, since not really wheeling it, get some fat 33's and they'll look pretty mean still on it - lot easier to work with.

If you decided with going the spring over route rocky road outfitters sells a good spring over kit that addresses even the steering issue for like 600$ including shocks add in 4 new stock Ct rear springs from general spring for 70$ each (780lb) and your super soft and still under 1000$ fixed.

Thanks for the info guys
