I was on the Jeep Forum and asked the question about the MFG. I ordered the part from Q-Tech that evening and the Vendor from Q-Tech replied to the post it was in stock and will ship the next day. I was impressed.
Ok, alt bracket on. Everything topped off and hooked up. Vacuum lines either replaced or clamped off where one main feed was loose.
Test run @ 25mph in 3rd for 1 mile, then shift to 4th @ same speed for 1 mile, no stumble/ran well.
Got home, pulled fuel cap, no suction - in thinking it was a collapsed line as suggested just to satisfy my mind.
Drove 45mph and getting on the skinny pedal, no stumble.
So my conclusion is a vacuum line was sucking air.
So, new ignition system, timing set, rebuilt carb, h20 pump v-cover gasket all to get to the vacuum line
You know the ole cliche, take off the rear bumper and work forward.
Thanks for the tips and I will continue to test it out on the hwy next, hopefully it is fixed. So, the new sending unit will go in the CJ8 build instead of Peaches Jeep.
P.S. Still pulling 17" of vacuum, gauge read late timing and it is nuttered w/9* time set but running well/no pinging.
