I'm changing out my stock carb and am wondering what mods are needed to install the MC 2100? I've heard the throttle linkage needs to be moded...anyone know anything on this? I've got an 86 with the AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l I6.
And anyone know if I have to hook up the manifold heater or I can just let that sit. I've just finished the painless kit and there was no wiring for the oil sender unit. I've seen write ups on how to hook it up but if I change out the carb do I still need this?

The manifold heater isn't a big thing. You would have to live with out it if you were To upgrade to a aftermarket manifold anyway.

The 2100 is a easy swap. Your gonna need to google or some one here might be able to give you the mrgasket part number for the adapter plate.

When I put the 2100 on the one I built I was able to adapt the old carbs linkage mount onto the 2100 so I could use the standard throttle rod. That was a 84 so I'm assuming they are the same. Is yours an automatic. If so there is a bracket that needs to be raised that holds the throttle cable and kick down cable. If you don't raise this the linkage is to short and will cause the throttle to stay partially open I stacked a few washers under it to get the desired results. It's really. Easy once you get it in place and see how it fits. If you need I can get some pics of the way I fabbed the linkage from the carter onto the 2100.

Mine's a standard, thanx for the info. It's going to be on the road next month. Yahooooooo

Is there an adapter I need for the MC2100 to mate to my AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l ?

I can't say I am a big fan of mine. the cable is too long and hits the breather, it has a few too many bends in it to be a good job. I think of this as a work in progress, it works, it just doesn't make me smile.:D

Nice job on the fab. The one I did only required a few washers and a bolt.. Ill try to get some pics of it. EIther way will work well it seems.
