Is there something in the T-150 Transmission that makes contact so the switch activates.. I still haven't tore into it yet.

If you have a switch and don't know what it does attach an ohmmeter and shift into neutral and see what happens.

Aren't most "neutral switches" actually a "clutch pushed in" switch in the starter solenoid circuit?

back up light switch, something has to activate it, right?

Yes-inside the tranny.
BU switch failure is common. Buy 2 of them.
