Hello all,
I havent been on here in quite awhile. Work get in the way of a hobby for sure, but I have a little down time, so I'm back at my 80 CJ7 .
Here is the question I have for the gurus,
Ihave a T-176 that was out for an engine swap (AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l for AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l ). The Transmission was on the floor for several months so I removed the shift tower to replace the spring assembly that holds the shifter in place. So today I reinstalled the Transmission (with the xfer case off.The Transmission was in neutral and I could spin the input shaft by hand. now that the shifter / tower is installed I CAN'T turn the input shaft also I cant seem to get the T-176 into seccond gear .
Reading back over this I Hope someone can understand what it is Im trying to say Any sugestions???

I am not real sure how far along you are. But one time I gave myself problems by trying to check the shifting and new clutch I installed before it was all tightened up and mounted back up with the skid plate. I knew I had done everything right but it would not shift right. I finally just put it back together and it was perfect. I think the weight and not being in the right place was causing binding:confused:. Just a thought.

Thanks CJ007, The Transfer Case is still on the ground and the weight of the tranny is on the jack. Its been a LONG time since I've done a transplant or even a clutch job so I'm a little paranoid. I've had the 7 for almost a year and I already have 5K in it.I know thats a drop in the bucket for a lot of Jeep folks, and I'm NOT complaining its just that I've only driven it around the block 1time since I've owned it.
I have to go out of town next week so I'll put the Transfer Case on and bolt up the skid plate next weekend and see how it works out if anyone has any other hints I'll be happy to listen
