Tail lights / Brake Lights

ripped out old wiring and running new behind dash adn to lights. the brake lights and rear bilnkers work but when i turn on the light the rear lights do not turn on.....only when i step on the brakes. I cannot figure it out...any suggestions??

Did you check the bulbs? They are two filament, one for brake/ turn signal the other for tail lights. Check the bulb socket, too.

I would also recheck wiring for correct hookup and double check connections at the light switch. If you have one wire hooked to the wrong color that can mess things up.
