Someone school me on them please. I've seen a few over the years and just spotted one that is for sale. Was that a factory option? If so how can I see if this one was from the factory? How rare are they?

Cant tell you how rare they are but my 73 CJ5 that I picked up a couple months ago has no tail gate. I would be interested also as to how rare this is.

my 77 CJ5 doesn't have one and a Buddie of mine has an 80 CJ5 that doesn't have one either

As I said, it is not rare at all, it was an option

Well that's good to know, the guy selling it must think it's extremely special for the shape it's in and what he wants for it, so I'm pretty sure I'm gonna have to pass on this one, probably a wise idea since the wife is already nagging me about getting rid of the one thats sitting in the garage back home with no title or drivetrain.
