I found this in Montana, haven't called the guy yet but it close(3 hours)!
80's Jeep CJ

Im going to call him tomorrow, let me know if you guys think i should get this for my 77 tub swap, and along with that if anyone knows what gears the front and rear end would have let me know!

Thanks as always!

You would have spent some major coin to get it running.
If you have plenty of time to complete the project.
You find good deals, I found lots of stuff on "C.L.".
I would check the frame real close for cracks & rust.
Same with the body.;)

If the body isn't rotten offer him two, maybe two fifty, he is looking for xmas money and it may be a bit scarce this year.

yea 500 is allot for that. i found a hole cj on craigslist a few weeks ago for 500 and it was street legal.

Ya im going to call the guy tomorrow and see if he would dicker on the price a little considering the condition of all the parts, and im going to see what all he has. Does anyone know what a stock 80's CJ7 comes with

was flagged for removal. :(

So here is the update i called him today. He was a real nice guy he said he got the CJ7 on a trade in, its around a 85 or 86? the body tub has very little rust the floor boards arent even rusted out and someone has already done some body work. It comes with a brand new tail gate, windshield and something else i cant remember, but he traded the Dana 300 off of it  but he said there is a automatic Transmission ? so here is where the problem lies will the tub swap be hard from his 85 or 86 to my 77 CJ7 Manual 3 speed? and i got him down to 350 and he said he would even meet me halfway with it. So anyone know the specs on the 85 or 86 CJ7 ? please help me out! Thanks as always guys! he also said it used to have a 360 in it.

I've not tried it , but 76'-86' are all close. 76' was a year of big changes.

There is only one tub. It will swap into place bolt for bolt.

Thank you Dave,Brian, and Longhorn! im really debating on this one i want it but then i dont want my fiancee to buy it for me for X-mas which she will, but i get alot of extra electrical parts, axles,Transmission ,a brand new windshield and tailgate and along with that its had the body work done and he is willing to drive and meet me for 350 bucks thats pretty good. But id have to go buy a engine hoist to get my old tub off along with that borrow a flatbed trailer maybe. I'm going to talk to 2lostinspace (pretty much my jeep advisor lol) and see what he thinks.

A couple things off the top of my head that will be different.

A. No rear sidemarker lights on a 85 , you'll have to use its tailights or buy some for a 80 and up

B. You'll have to use the Transmission cover on the tunnel from your 77 to match your Transmission and Transfer Case .

C. You'll have to take off the door strikers on the 85 to use your doors from the 77 or you'll have to use the 85s doors if available.

D. Do yourself a favor and start spraying any body mount bolts on both with Pb blaster atleast 1 week ahead of time. Do it daily. ;)

Thats really all I can think of right now and those things are pretty minor. While your tub is off fix your gas guage that doesnt work. It'll be nice and easy to trace all the wiring with the tub off. Id clean the bottom of the tub really good and undercoat it. Do as much to prevent future rust as you can. You dont wanna be doing it all over a few years down the road. Clean up and coat the frame etc ,etc. Good luck and have fun. :D

Also what about the Transmission deal since he thinks it is or was an auto will i have to cut out for my Transmission ? and i dont think ill use the frame since it has engine mounts for a 360.

The body opening is the same for all shifters. Only the cover plate is diferent. Engine mounts are an easy couple minute swap over. Use the best frame.

I can say for a fact it did not come from the factory with a 360 V8.;)

They came with a Dana 30 front differential & a AMC model 20 rear.
also a few came with Dana 44 rears.
